What is a Segway Tour?  When we say Segway Tour, we mean that we are going to tour downtown Asheville and all of the particpants will be on a Segway PT i2.  Some people think it is a walking tour and only the guide is on an i2 but that's not the case, you'll all be on an i2.  It is an unforgettable way to tour a large area.  Please ignore all of the flashbulbs going off as you tour, you're an instant celebrity when you're on the tour and become part of the tourists event yourself!


Can I rent a Segway without a guide? No. We do not rent our Segways out to individuals without a guide.

What are the operating hours for Moving Sidewalk Tours? We will be operating daily with tours beginning at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm & 5:00 pm. Each tour covers the same amount of ground & content, so pick the time that best suits you.


What is your weather cancellation policy? A tour can be canceled if the weather is severe. Most weather conditions are fine, with heavy rain & snow being the exceptions. When making a reservation, leave with us a cell number or hotel contact info for us to keep in touch & up to date with the status of your tour. The guide reserves the right to cancel or begin each tour in every condition. If a tour is canceled due to weather, the rider will receive a full refund or we can reschedule the tour for a later date.
 
How far in advance do I need to reserve my tour? With the high volume of reservations, it is advised that you reserve your spot 5 to 7 days in advance.

What are the physical requirements for riding a Segway PT? You must be able to climb a flight of stairs unassisted without a handrail, weigh between 100 & 260 pounds, and stand upright for long periods of time. Riders must be at least 14 years old.  If you are 15-17, a parental signature is required. You must pass the rider certification training and the guide holds the right to deny some participants.

What is a Segway PT? The Segway Personal Transporter is a one of a kind, self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled PT sports high-tech gyroscopes that monitor your balance and automatically respond to your body's movements. Riders can glide smoothly along as the PT senses where you want to go.

How long does the tour last? Each tour lasts between 2 and 3 hours which includes 20 to 45 minutes of training.

What should I wear for the tour? Wear something that you will be comfortable standing in for 3 hours. I.E.; Comfortable closed toe flat shoes (no high heels or sandals), Jacket & gloves for cooler days, shorts for warmer ones.

Will a helmet be provided for us? Yes, a helmet will be provided for you free of charge. Feel free to bring your own bicycle or snowboarding helmet.

Are Segway PTs safe for children or people with disabilities? Riding a Segway PT is one of the most fun & safest ways to move about, but no one was born riding one. We allow riders ages 14 & up and all are required to participate in the training session. PTs are not for everyone, so if you are concerned about mobility issues please call us to discuss. We will practice on the PTs until everyone feels comfortable and ready to tour.

Can I purchase a Segway PT from Moving Sidewalk Tours? Yes you can! We can sell you one of our tour machines or refer you to a dealer for a new machine.  Why not have this much fun everyday!?  See your guide for pricing information.

How many riders can a tour take at a time? Currently Moving Sidewalk Tours can accomdate up to 4 riders at a time.  

What can I bring along with my tour? Each Segway PT comes with a handlebar storage bag for cameras, light jackets and purses. Please do not bring bulky backpacks with you.

How can I pay for my tour? You can pay for your tour in person at the MST desk or over the phone with a Mastercard or Visa credit card. We only accept CASH or CREDIT. PREPAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR EACH TOUR.

Is there a cancellation policy? Yes, you can cancel 2 days before the scheduled tour. If you cancel within the 48 hours of your tour’s start time, you will be charged the full price of the tour(s).
 
Will there be refreshments on the tour? Yes, Moving Sidewalk Tours will provide you one 8 ounce bottle of water.  You will also have an opportunity to buy a drink or snack at one point during the tour.
